Suspension of Occupational Therapist for putting patient at risk
31/01/2012The Registrant’s current fitness to practise was found impaired by reason of both lack of competence and misconduct.
The panel decided the most appropriate action was to suspend the practitioner from the Register for a period of one year with an Interim Suspension Order in place to cover the appeal period. It was the registrant’s case that she had taken steps to remedy the actions by undertaking further courses but the Panel made the comment that the level of attainment achieved was not evidenced and that there was a lack of information regarding the precise content of the courses in question so as to provide cogent evidence that fitness was no longer impaired.
