Illegal Practice prosecution

This joint collaboration between the police CPS and the General Dental Council (GDC) is an illustration of the operation of the powers under the Dentists  Act 1984 s38(1) which makes it an offence to practise dentistry when unregistered with the GDC. The dentist was prosecuted successfully and was ordered to pay fines and victim surcharges as well as costs. The law equally applies to dental technicians and nurses, dental hygienists and clinical dental technicians as well as orthodontic therapists.
