Solicitor Struck off for False Case reports for accreditations scheme
The solicitor in this case had breached rules 1.02 and 1.06 of the Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007 by falsifying case reports which had been submitted in respect of an accreditation scheme operated by the Magistrates’ Court. The Scheme is for those wishing to undertake work as a Duty Solicitor in the police station and Magistrates Court. A Portfolio of cases conducted has to be compiled and submitted.
It was found that the Solicitor had acted dishonestly in submitting case reports which she had not undertaken . in considering the Guidance Note on Sanctions the SDT was not satisfied in this case that there were any exceptional circumstances to persuade against imposing a Striking Off order as no other sanction or penalty was considered appropriate. The solicitor was also ordered to pay £5500 costs.
