What do you specialise in?
Ian studied both the Solicitors’ Exempting Degree and Business with Legal Management Masters at Northumbria University, prior to completing his training with an entrepreneurial city law firm in Newcastle upon Tyne. Ian is now a key member of the Banner Jones Business Legal Services team in Chesterfield, specialising in commercial property and unincorporated SME acquisitions and disposals, with a property interest.
Ian regularly represents a breadth of commercial landlords and tenants on multifaceted leasehold matters, including assignments, grants, surrenders, sub-leases and variations. He also has experience of advising developers on acquisition and disposals, advising financial institutions in high-value secured lending or re-financing and corporate organisations in land and property purchase and sale, amongst a wide-ranging commercial offering. Ian frequently handles the acquisition and disposal of small and medium unincorporated businesses, particularly those involving a leasehold involvement.
Ian is able to act for individual clients on purchases and sales of residential property, both freehold and leasehold, for occupation or buy-to-let. He has also previously been instructed by large companies to act in breach of contract litigation relating to land purchase sale agreements and claims for adverse possession, boundary adjustment and property-related dispute resolution.
Ian sits as the Secretary and Treasurer to the Over Haddon Community Project, a community initiative designed to facilitate and promote a wide sense of community involvement amongst the residents of Over Haddon, their family, friends and beyond through the arrangement, hosting and organisation of local events and meetings.
