Banner Jones crowned champions of the 2022 Women in Property netball tournament

A team of legal experts and business support staff from law firm Banner Jones recently swapped the court room for the netball courts when they took part in the Women in Property netball tournament, battling against seven other teams to become the official champions for 2022.

The event took place at the renowned English Institute of Sport in Sheffield and was organised by Team+, which provided specialist governing body qualified staff to officiate and score the matches

Despite tough competition from other teams from Nineteen47, Ramsdens Solicitors, HLM Architects, Freeths Whittam Cox and ECUS & BD, Banner Jones, which was supported by Temple Black Solicitors, eventually took the trophy, winning by an impressive five points.

Kate Skelton who represented Banner Jones in the tournament said: “Following what has been a terribly tough few years we were absolutely delighted to be able to get together with our contacts and colleagues from across the property sector at such a great event.

“Needless to say, we’re quite a competitive bunch, so we were thrilled to take home the trophy.

“in addition to being able to get out and about and feeling active again, the event proved to be a wonderful networking opportunity and we can’t wait to join in next year and retain our winning title!”

Sarah Wills, Associate Director at Chartered Town Planners and Urban Designers, nineteen47, and a member of the Yorkshire and North East branch of Women in Property, helped to organise the event.

She added: “Women in Property have been running an annual netball tournament in Sheffield for several years now.

“Held at the English Institute of Sport, it has become a firm fixture in the Yorkshire and North East calendar.  We were delighted to welcome both regular teams and some newcomers to the event this year.  We are so happy that this event has led to several attendees taking up netball in their own time and also new teams being formed.

“The energy and feel good, supportive atmosphere sets the event apart from more traditional networking events and offers something different.

“A huge congratulations to the Banner Jones team who did incredibly well on the day. We’re looking forward to welcoming them back next year when they will battle to retain their title.”
