Lauren Mahon

Why did you apply to Banner Jones?

I was fresh out of university when I applied to Banner Jones back in 2017, and at the time I was prioritising finding work in a multi-disciplinary firm. It was important for me to gain a real insight into the practical side of law in as many areas as possible, so as to define me career aspirations in regards to the type of law I intended to practice in in the future. I was hired as a Legal Secretary within the Personal Injury Department at the Chesterfield Office, and I went on to assist both the Employment and Dispute Resolution teams.

How has Banner Jones assisted in your career progression?

Banner Jones have been very supportive of my training, both internal and external, from the moment I began. The role that I went into was much more hands on than I imagined, to my benefit, and I feel that my abilities and prior knowledge from university have been recognised and appreciated. I was given file handling responsibilities for a number of my own clients within the first year of my employ, and have felt supported whilst I learned to navigate them. Further, I have recently completed my LPC as a part time student, and I have been able to approach anyone from any department for help when needed, and everyone has been more than happy to assist.

What sets the Banner Jones experience apart from past employers?

I really enjoy how client focused we are here in the Personal Injury Department. You are really able to build a relationship with clients during the progression of their claims, and you can see how your work has had a positive impact upon them during such a personal matter, which is very rewarding.

In summary, what is it like working at Banner Jones?

I have made some great friends since starting at Banner Jones, and have always felt supported by my team. I therefore genuinely look forward to coming to work in the mornings, and I am excited generally to continue to progress with them!
